POSITION INFO:
Our client in the engineering industry is urgently looking for an experienced SHE Manager to look after their Zinc and Aluminium Plants on a fixed-term basis

Location: Benoni South, Gauteng

Requirements:

• Matric
• Degree/Diploma in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, or Occupational Hygiene
• Minimum of 5 years of full function experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 3 years of experience in a management position
• Experience in a mining/manufacturing environment is required
• Previous 16(2) appointment
• SAMTRAC, SHEMTRAC
• ISO 14000 / OHSAS 18000 / ISO 45001
• Advanced knowledge of the applicable and relevant legal requirements (SHE), business risk and facilitate Occupational SHE risks assessments and philosophy
• Sound knowledge of Company and Group Policies and Procedures
• Advanced knowledge of OHS Act, OHSAS 18001/45001, ISO 14001 with strong knowledge and implementation of SANS, ISO & OHSAS standards
• Working knowledge of and experience with Main Agreement, Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, EEA and other relevant labour relations legislation.  

• Identify the vital factors that will be most instrumental in securing the results you want.
• Determine what will be measurable proof that the desired result is being accomplished.
• Develop or monitor the written safety programs of the company; oversee work sites and procedures to help prevent workplace injuries; work with management to keep costly accidents and illnesses to a minimum; investigate accidents; work with safety committees.  
• Promote the development of 5S within the workplace.
• Aim of zero harm and no lost-time injuries.  
• Ensure that no contractor works on-site without induction and legally required documentation.
• Assist in the development and implementation of treatment protocols for occupational health, emergencies, and routine medical care.
• Develop or monitor the written environmental programs of the company; work with management to keep costly incidents to a minimum; investigate incidents.
• Ensuring continued compliance in line with ISO 14001 coordinating air, water monitoring, environmental data review, and reporting on Intelex and relevant government departments.
• The safety and security of staff, contractors, and visitors are ensured through the provision of security measures.
• Magtouch reports, weekly and monthly checklists, and cameras review – review of the performance of security company.
