SITE FOREMAN Employment: Permanent Base: Witbank, Mpumalanga Salary: R15, 000-R25, 000 net per month, based on experience Travel: Remote project sites throughout South Africa Remote-site support: Transport, accommodation, and meals or a meal allowance provided About the Position Our client, a provider of water and wastewater treatment solutions, requires a hands-on Site Foreman to lead site teams and oversee the installation, maintenance, and commissioning support of treatment plants and associated infrastructure. The successful candidate must have practical experience in piping, mechanical, and electrical work , together with the ability to manage site activities and ensure that projects are completed safely, according to the required quality standards and within programme deadlines. Key Responsibilities Plan daily site activities, allocate tasks, and coordinate employees and subcontractors. Supervise and assist with pipework installation, including supports, valves, fittings, connections, and testing. Oversee the installation, alignment, servicing, and fault-finding of pumps, motors, blowers, tanks, and related mechanical equipment. Coordinate electrical installation and fault-finding involving motors, control panels, cabling, and basic instrumentation. Ensure that specialist electrical work and testing are performed by appropriately qualified personnel. Read and interpret technical drawings, piping layouts, and specifications. Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with approved requirements. Manage site materials, tools, and equipment, including checking deliveries and identifying shortages. Minimise material waste, project delays, and unnecessary rework. Maintain accurate daily progress reports, photographs, attendance records, and material records. Submit regular updates covering completed work, outstanding activities, delays, and resource requirements. Communicate technical issues to management and site representatives. Assist with testing, commissioning, snag resolution, and final project handover. Essential Requirements A minimum of five years' relevant experience in site installation, construction, or maintenance. Previous experience supervising site teams. Strong practical experience in piping, mechanical, and electrical work . Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Ability to resolve or escalate site-related problems appropriately. Ability to organise labour, materials, tools, and equipment while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity. Valid driver's licence. Must be able to work from the Witbank base. Willingness to travel and stay at remote project sites throughout South Africa. Computer literacy, including email, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Ability to maintain site records and prepare and submit regular progress reports. Clear communication skills, reliability, sound judgement, and the ability to manage daily site activities with limited direct supervision. Mine-Site, HSEQ and Quality Experience Previous experience working on mines, including knowledge of mine-safety requirements, site-access procedures, and contractor requirements, will be advantageous. Experience in Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) and quality-management procedures will also be beneficial. The successful candidate must be able to: Understand risk assessments, identify hazards, and apply the required controls. Communicate risks and safe working procedures through toolbox talks and daily instructions. Maintain appropriate PPE, safe-isolation, and housekeeping practices. Follow quality procedures and complete inspection checklists. Report defects and monitor corrective work through to completion. Advantageous Experience and Qualifications Water or wastewater treatment-plant experience. A relevant trade qualification or technical training, such as Millwright, Fitter, Electrician, or Plumber .
