Employer Description A well-established law firm located in Johannesburg North. Job Description Our client is seeking a Junior Legal Collections Secretary to join its busy and growing department. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with legal collections, debt collection, paralegal or litigation support experience who is looking to further develop their skills within a well-established law firm environment. The successful candidate will assist with debt collection matters from inception through to finalisation, primarily on undefended matters, while also gaining exposure to civil litigation and commercial agreements. You will be responsible for: Assisting with the administration and progression of debt collection matters from inception through to finalisation Preparing, drafting and processing summonses, judgments, warrants of execution, Section 129 notices and related legal documentation Following up on defended and undefended matters where required Liaising with clients, debtors, sheriffs, courts and other stakeholders Preparing court documents and maintaining accurate records Assisting with civil litigation matters from time to time Assisting with the drafting and administration of commercial agreements where required Managing diaries, deadlines and legal processes Ensuring compliance with court rules and legal procedures Qualifications Matric (essential) Paralegal Certificate or Diploma advantageous Skills The successful candidate will have: Previous experience within a legal collections, debt collection, paralegal or litigation support environment Exposure to debt collection processes, legal documentation, summonses and judgments. Exposure to Magistrates' Court procedures advantageous Civil litigation exposure advantageous Strong administrative and organisational skills Excellent attention to detail Ability to work independently and manage deadlines Eagerness to learn and develop within a legal environment
