Job Description
Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Teaching and Learning Manager/ Specialist will focus on improving the skills and abilities of the academics responsible for curricula and learning material and assessments – in the central academic team and those contracted to develop curriculum and learning material outside of the central team. The person will assist with curriculum development quality assurance for new qualifications for accreditation and related activities. This is a training, mentoring, policy and procedure development role with a quality improvement focus.
You will be responsible for:
- The overall purpose of the job is to initiate, lead, manage, facilitate and influence, within the formal structures of the business, all aspects of the programme delivery process and operational requirements linked thereto.
- Provide leadership in achieving excellence in Teaching and Learning (T & L) through the programme planning and delivery via the following: quality assurance of T & L; Lecturer development based on the brand’s T & L strategy with specific focus on: active learning; reflective practice; marking & feedback for learning and promoting intellectual integrity with lecturers.
- Quality Assurance of Teaching and Learning
- Ensure compliance and quality assurance in all teaching and learning processes and initiatives.
- Management and Development of Teaching Practice on Campus
- Work to develop lecturer’s teaching skills and reflective practice through a process of continuous conversation that includes the teaching portfolio, peer reviews, SETs and continuous development plan.
- Implement training workshops for lecturer development (Specifically lecturers’ reflective teaching practice and marking practice) based on Peer reviews; SETs and development plans.
- Teaching and Learning Culture on campus
- Promotes a Teaching and Learning Culture on campus by building communities of best academic practice and drives uptake of contemporary developments in Teaching and Learning for the lecturers.
- Teaching and Learning Resource
- Collaborate with Programme Co-ordinators, Educational technologists; Lecturers and the academies’ Teaching and Learning teams and committees, in planning, brainstorming and problem solving on programme implementation, delivery and T&L matters
- Lecturing:
- Lectures 1 module per semester (not exceeding 60 hours in total).
- Qualification Development and Accreditation
- The incumbent is required to conduct research and develop new qualifications within the scope of The academy’s Accreditation and Programme Development Committee process and in line with the brand’s strategy through collaboration with the operations manager – academic and managing director.

Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor Degree PLUS Postgraduate Diploma/ Bachelors Honours Degree in Education (PGCE or B.Ed)
- or Higher postgraduate qualification (Mphil; PhD) in Education preferable
- NQF 9/ Masters Degree in Teaching or Education
Skills
The successful candidate must have:
- 3 years industry experience in a hospitality management position. Experience within the training and development landscape is ideal.
- or Minimum of 5 years’ experience in higher education teaching and training or development with Extensive knowledge of the South African educational landscape.
- or Minimum of 5 years Teaching and Learning experience (preferably in a higher education environment).
- Must have experience in using technology to enhance learning and an understanding of the current regulatory framework and its impact on higher education and private colleges.
