Sales Assistant – N1 Value Centre

Purpose of the position

To assist the Floor manager with the selling of all store related services and products. Operation of point-of-sale system, copiers, and other store equipment as well as other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities & duties (80% Customer Service, 20% Store operations)

Customer Related – Sales, Customer Service, Cashier

Store Operations – Managing inventory, administrative duties, Filing of waybills & other related documentation

Customer Service

• Proactively engaging customers through acknowledgement in a timely and effective manner
• Ascertain each customer’s needs and wants and act accordingly
• Assist customers with all product / service related questions
• Respond to emails, phone calls, and other forms of correspondence
  • Accurately processing transactions, including payments on Point of Sale system.
  • Follow cashing up procedures at day end and print reports
    • Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to manage these situations.
      • Identify new opportunities for business growth and
      • Direct sales leads to appropriate member of sales team.
        • Maintain overall neatness/appearance of the store in accordance with management guidelines
        • To assist with housekeeping tasks to ensure a neat, clean and safe working environment.
          • Furthermore to provide services including but not limited to copying, printing, laminating, scanning, faxing, packing, shipping, mailbox rentals and other products and services.

• Assists customers with their product and service needs in person, through e-mail and by phone
• Any ad hoc services needed by top management

Store Operations

• Assist in maintaining an up to date inventory system
• Be responsible for the receipt of all incoming stock, calculation of resell price and recording of new stock on IQ Elite system.
• Assisting with regular stock checks and monthly stock takes
• Monitor and maintain inventory / stock in the store and report low stock levels back to Floor Manager
• Record all incoming parcels from customers on the relevant control sheet
• Compile courier database for all outgoing packages
• Accurately record each day’s courier activity and forward spreadsheet to Floor Manager on daily basis
• Ensure that all incoming parcels from different couriers are recorded and customers notified for collection
• To become familiar with and follow store policies and procedures as well as general company policies.
• Ability to accept directions, follow procedures and perform both repetitive and varied duties without loss of composure or efficiency.
