Purpose of the Role:To ensure that all scaffolding operations are in strict compliance with health and safety legislation, safety standards, and project-specific requirements. Responsibilities include inspecting structures, facilitating risk assessments, monitoring
contractor performance, and leading safety initiatives.
Qualification and Experience:- Matric / Grade 12 required
- Scaffolding Inspector Certificate
- SAMTRAC or SHEMTRAC
- Diploma in Safety Management preferred
- Fall Protection Plan Developer Certificate
- ISO 45001 internal Auditor
- Legal Liability Course
- Advance Risk Assessment Training
- Incident Investigation (ICAM or RCAT)
- Registration with SACPCMP: (CHSO)
- First Aid Level 1 & Basic Fire Fighting
Technical Work Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years in health and safety role
- Strong understanding of working at heights and fall protection systems
- Experience overseeing scaffolding operations
Health & Safety Competency:- In-depth knowledge of scaffolding systems, compliance procedures
- Conduct risk assessments, safe work procedures
- Implement safety observation programs
- Oversight of scaffold structures during operations and shutdowns
- Promote a positive safety culture on site
Energy Isolation and Permit to Work Systems:- Manage site-specific Permit to Work procedures
- Coordinate with stakeholders for approvals
Supervisory and Safety Management Skills:- Coordinate multiple scaffolding teams
- Deliver safety briefings and user training
- Prepare safety documentation, incident reports
- Maintain safety compliance files
Incident Prevention and Investigation:- Lead incident investigations
- Submit comprehensive reports
- Implement corrective actions
Soft Skills & Attributes:- Attention to detail
