Our client, an international player, currently seeks a Senior Account Manager - Agriculture Sector, who will be responsible for the identification and conversion of new business development opportunities in the Agriculture Sector through the distribution services in the company, in and around South Africa.


With a specific focus on chemicals and raw materials within the agricultural sector. To sell the company's offerings and solutions to current and prospective customers. The role is accountable for achieving volume, revenue, and margin growth targets within a defined territory by growing the company's share within existing customers through the sale of product and service offerings, and by acquiring new customers by providing consultative solutions.

The Person:
  • B.Sc in Agriculture would be desirable.
  • Min. 5 years' experience in sales to the Chemical Agricultural industry.
  • Ability to build reports and forecast on sales as well as trends.
  • Extensive business-to-business sales experience is essential.
  • Strong management experience and excellent leadership skills to develop a team of sales staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and strong negotiation and influential skills.
  • Manage compliance with all relevant statutes and regulations as necessary.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong relationship management ability.
  • Strong Excel skills.
The Job:
Income Generation:
  • Analyse market trends and future needs in the agreed sectors.
  • Use creative methods to increase business development.
  • Understand the competitive environment and profile significant companies.
  • Map the above analysis to the strategic priorities of the group to select target companies.
  • Manage customer relations.
  • Build and maintain alliances with key distributors.
  • Visit customers on a regular basis.
  • Achieve sales budget and targets.
  • Manage inventory levels.
Management of Debtors and Administration:
  • Review accounts to identify problems.
  • Call on clients to discuss and resolve payment problems.
  • Develop Vendor relations and better pricing.
CRM and Sales Management:
  • Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers.
  • Use research conducted by Sales Support Administrators and liaise with Commercial Director on taking the sales lead further.
  • Keep customers constantly informed about any problems arising influencing deficiencies regarding the execution of orders/contracts.
  • Continuous improvement and development of the customer relationship.
  • Receive and handle all customer complaints expeditiously.
  • Manage budgets and business objectives.
  • Monitor sales targets and business objectives.
  • Competitor analysis and business strategy.
  • Proactive at anticipating and meeting internal and external challenges.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers.
  • Prepare quotations and tenders and monitor these objectives.
  • Advice customers concerning supply chain/logistics matters.
  • Manage pipeline proactively, recognising customers' stage in the decision cycle.
Co-ordination, Leadership & Management:
  • Develop relationships within the company and within various customer organisations.
  • Lead the division to meet targets and motivate staff to excel.
  • Develop a team of Sales staff.
  • Product knowledge - in-depth, relevant and correctly targeted.
  • Market knowledge - up to date.
  • Deliver monthly reports to the MD and Executive Management team.
