SUMMARY:
Our client in Pretoria is growing their team and seeking an experienced Senior Accountant.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

B.Com Accounting Degree or related Financial Degree
Honours Degree in Accounting or SAICA registration (Desirable)
3 - 7 post article years
Required Skills:
- Accounting Software (ie, Pastel / Xero)
- Microsoft Excel
- SARS e-filing
- Risk Assessment
- Measurement, Analysis and Interpretation
- Ratio Analysis
Required Experience:
- Commercial experience
- Full bookkeeping experience up to trial balance (Including debtors management, creditors management, general ledger)
- Tax compliance
- Statutory compliance
- Financial Reporting
- Month end procedure management
- Team management
- Beneficial if articles were completed at an accounting firm

Key responsibilities:

General Financial Administration
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
- Support the year-end close process.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Liaise with the Financial Manager to improve financial procedures.
- Assist with the budgeting process.
- Coordinate accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments.
- Assist with managing all company facilities.
Month-End Procedure Management
- Manage and assist the team to complete the month-end procedure within the deadline.
- Prepare month-end close procedures, including debtors, creditors, cash, general ledger and trial balance reconciliations.
- Identify errors and recommend changes to processing accounting transactions.
- Process journal entries to ensure accuracy..
- Assist in financial standards setting and the forecast process.
Financial Reporting
- Analyse financial information and summarize financial status.
- Participate in financial standards setting and in the forecast process.
- Suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
- Perform variance analysis and prepare account reconciliations.
Team Monitoring
- Assist with managing accounting assistants, bookkeepers, and accountants.
- Provide input into the department's goal-setting process.
- Plan, assign, and review staff’s work.
- Provide training and mentoring to employees in the finance department.
