POSITION INFO:
A high‑performing organization within the logistics and courier sector, based in Johannesburg East, is looking to appoint a Senior Accountant with strong IFRS 16 expertise. In a business where assets move fast and operations never slow down, your role will be to ensure the financial backbone remains accurate, compliant, and robust. This is a role for someone who thrives in the detail; where lease structures, reconciliations, and reporting frameworks require precision, and where your technical input directly supports operational clarity. Key Responsibilities: Lead month‑end processes, including journals, accruals, provisions, and reconciliations Manage and maintain IFRS 16 lease accounting, including reporting and compliance Ensure balance sheet accuracy through detailed reconciliation reviews Analyse financial results and provide insightful reporting commentary Maintain and control the fixed asset register, including movements and disposals Support preparation of annual financial statements and tax submissions Handle SARS queries and tax-related processes Manage relationships with internal and external auditors Provide technical support to operational and branch teams Drive process improvements and control enhancements Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax legislation, and company policies Job Experience and Skills Required: BCom Degree in Accounting or Finance SAICA or SAIPA articles advantageous Minimum 5+ years' experience in a full‑function accounting role Strong, hands‑on IFRS 16 knowledge and application (essential) Solid experience in audit processes and financial reporting Exposure to VAT, Income Tax, and SARS engagements Industry experience within logistics, courier, transport, or supply chain preferred Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Experience with Sage or similar ERP systems Strong technical ability with a high attention to detail Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced operational environment If you're the person who questions assumptions, digs into lease structures, and won't sign off until the numbers make sense, this role has your name on it.
