SUMMARY:

A sophisticated group of boutique hotels based in Franschhoek is seeking an experienced Accountant to provide comprehensive financial control, review, and support to the assigned Financial Manager.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

Must have a financial degree or diploma (SAIPA Professional Accountant is advantageous)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in financial accounting, preferably in the hospitality, tourism, or property sector
Advanced proficiency in MS Office and financial accounting systems (e.g., Sage Evolution, Protel PMS) is essential
Must have strong knowledge of VAT legislation and financial reporting standards

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Analyzing costs against budget and prior year figures, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring the validity of expenditures.
Managing VAT, EMP201, and Excise submissions, as well as ensuring compliance with SARS regulations.
Overseeing complex invoice capturing, supplier reconciliations, and payment processes.
Managing electronic bank payments, foreign payments, petty cash, and cash deposits.
Ensuring effective procurement practices and accurate stock management.
Reviewing and approving payroll registers, assisting with payroll submissions, and ensuring accurate payroll journal entries.
Maintaining fixed asset registers, managing customer invoices, and ensuring debtors’ accounts are reconciled.
Assisting with annual budgeting and preparing for external audits.
