SUMMARY:
Our client who is based in the Durbanville area of the Northern Suburbs is looking for a Senior Accountant to assist with the workflow and supervising of the accounting and tax department

POSITION INFO:

Job Specification

Gather client information

Process and reconcile annual transactions from source documents

VAT calculations and submissions

Payroll administration of clients: management of employee data and calculation of salaries, wages, EMP deductions/contributions

Liaising with the Department of Labour UIF department and ensuring that clients records remain up to date

EMP completions and reconciliations

Assisting with compensation fund (WCA) return of earnings (ROE) calculations, completions, and online submissions

Compile management accounts/financial statements for individuals, trusts, close corporations, and companies along with compiling/gathering relevant supporting working papers/schedules/documents

Prepare tax computations for individuals, trusts, close corporations, and companies

Resolve review queries from manager/partner and do final entries as per partner’s finalisation

Assist with the administration of the tax function

Working to budget and control targets to ensure monthly targets are met

Liaising and dealing with Clients, Supervisors and Partners on their expectations and requirements

Communicating job expectations within the department; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions within the department; enforcing policies and procedures within the department

Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

Good communication skills, both verbal and written

Excellent time and priority management

Professional conduct

Ability to work in a team and lead a team

Ability to work under pressure with multiple clients

Ability to maintain and monitor high quality standards

High customer service levels

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Proficiency in income tax relating to trusts, companies, and individuals

  • Recognised B.Comm Accounting / Financial qualification

    Membership of Professional Body (e.g. SAIPA) would be advantageous

    3 years experience in an accounting/auditing firm

  • Experience in accounting up to the preparation of management accounts/financial statements
  • Accompanied by relevant working paper files

Proficiency in e-filing

Proficiency in MS Office with good working knowledge of spreadsheets

Proficiency in Pastel

Any other bookkeeping applications experience would be advantageous

Pastel Payroll knowledge would be advantageous. Any other payroll applications experience would be advantageous

U-filing experience would be advantageous

CF-online experience would be advantageous

Caseware experience would be advantageous

Greatsoft tax administration experience would be advantageous 

Willing to learn and work hard with a positive energy

Bilingual - Afrikaans and English

Own transport

Experience in bookkeeping up to trial balance
