The Senior Associate, Technical: Energy Finance role will manage the deal team and support the Heads of the team as well as to develop and maintain strong client relationships and networks in the Energy Sector. To originate transactions in the Energy Sector.

Senior Associate, Technical: Energy Finance Duties:

• Provide the team with a strong center of excellence for all technical matters on energy projects.
• Manage performance of credit and technical risks.
• Provide input and being a center of excellence within the team on Environmental and sustainability parameters in the Projects being funded.
• Manage performance of Energy Finance reports.
• Contribute to team effectiveness by embedding and supporting a high performance culture.
• model, CAPEX and OPEX costs, insurance review, environmental and permitting review, site visits and construction monitoring.
• Negotiate contract security packages with the Project Sponsors.
• Perform site visits during construction and operation and review LTA reports against technical specifications, budget and milestone schedule.
• Managed Stakeholder Relationships.
• Manage relationship with Lender Technical Advisor (LTA). for project financing, and acquisitions of energy and specifically renewable energy projects and portfolios.
• Guide the business with technical risk inputs.
• Prepare proposals detailing Lender Technical Advisor scope of works for pre financial close work, construction monitoring and operations monitoring.
• Participate in the lender project contract negotiations to ensure an acceptable technical lender risk profile.
• Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders by networking, fostering collaboration, regular communication and complying with the governance and controls.
• Optimise our relationships with subsidiaries and our Alliance partners.
• Build and maintain external stakeholder relationships by networking / conferencing, maintaining regular contact, ongoing communication, site visits and pitching ideas.
• Managed Internal Processes Provide credit submissions for new transactions on all deal technical matters.
• Complete the technical project review inputs for annual project credit reviews.
• Ensure compliance by sanctions checking and adhering to (FICA, Internal and Environmental) regulations, policies and procedures.
• Leading /Manage deal implementation by structuring, negotiating and attending to legal matters & Conditions precedent (CP). Ensure ongoing risk management by reviewing risk annually, assessing performance, undertakings, client visits and engaging with Lending Middle Office and Credit.
• Improve performance of team by providing on the job training, knowledge sharing and identifying suitable formal & informal training.
• Get involved in non-deal specific projects by providing expert technical advice & training, testing and implementing.
• Managed self Be a center of excellence in advising the team on the latest renewable energy technologies such as Hydrogen and Battery storage technologies.
• Support the achievement of the business strategy, objectives and values by reviewing the business unit plan and ensuring delivered systems, process, services and solutions are aligned.
• Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments in field of expertise by identifying training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from managers.
• Ensure personal growth and enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities by ensuring all learning activities are completed, experience practiced and certifications obtained and/or maintained within specified time frames.
• Enable skilling and required corrective action to take place by sharing knowledge and industry trends with team and stakeholders during formal and informal interaction.
• Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes (e.g. operational processes) that will improve the functioning of stakeholder's businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.

Profile

Qualifications:

• Engineering Degree at a Honours /Masters level with a BCom/Business Science/CFA/MBA.

Technical Competency:

• Extremely well experienced in managing and leading technical discipline in Renewable Energy Projects.
• Energy Sector knowledge (advanced).
• Strong understanding of Renewable Energy technologies and storage.
• The principles of managing technical risks in a renewable energy project.
• MS Office.
• Technical Knowledge in Renewable Energy Technologies.
• Macro Economic Energy trends.
• Project Finance.
• Understanding of financial services & product suites.
• Relevant regulatory knowledge.
