SUMMARY:
Provision of Audit Managerial services to a portfolio of Banking clients in the Financial Services Group division. Responsible for the execution of the risk-based audit approach and leading audit teams during the fieldwork. In addition, you will have the opportunity to provide a variety of non-assurance services to Banking clients as determined by the relevant Banking related regulations

POSITION INFO:

Job Responsibilities

  • Actively driving the planning of the audit, as well as the actual fieldwork at interim and final, statutory audit and completion work
  • Supervising, mentoring, and coaching junior staff including promoting audit quality
  • Develops and co-ordinates the application of technical and professional standards within own team
  • Managing partner involvement on audits, providing progress reports as required
  • Manages multiple client relationships. Takes the role of lead contact
  • Acting as the initial point of contact throughout the year for your clients
  • Makes commercial decisions that impact on the department. Manages risk and liability in
  • assignments
  • Budgeting and monitoring the financial performance of engagements, focusing on optimizing profitability
  • Communicates complex information with influence and skill to a range of audiences
  • Regularly and enthusiastically communicating with senior clients on relevant industry matters
  • Uses and actively builds upon client knowledge and networks to identify selling opportunities. Uses experience to improve the business
  • Acting as a department lead on your area of sector expertise
  • Creates (and leads) an environment of continuous learning and development. Actively takes the lead in helping others to improve and pursue their careers
  • Keeping up to date with the Company GT product and service offerings and identifying the sales opportunities that will help us grow our business

Competencies

Technical Competencies           

  • Knowledge of Banking Related Regulations, IFRS Principles: Apply in-depth knowledge of accounting theories and principles and financial systems design.  Recognize complex and unique issues and develop resolution and/or consult with leadership in order to achieve resolution; consistently serve as a technical resource
  • Governance, Risk and Control: Examine and analyze complex financial statements. Institute changes based on findings. Recommend actions or alternatives to be taken by management when accounting data discloses unfavorable trends or deviations or financial mismanagement. Manages project financials, including budgets, WIPS, timely billing, collection and variance recognition
  • Decision Making, Problem Solving: Independently resolve and/or develop recommendations for unprecedented, complex issues and problems.  Serve as a resource for others in resolving unprecedented, non-standard issues and problems.  Anticipate problems and develop recommendations for resolution
  • Communication: Convey concise, comprehensive, and accurate findings on matters of a complex nature in written form.  Conclusions and recommendations are based on professional knowledge and judgment. May consult and/or negotiate with Director body/external entities for the purpose of funding levels, cost allocations, or related financial issues

Qualifications

  • CA(SA)

Experience

  • 6+ years (post articles) of external audit experience of which 5 years spent on managing external audits, ideally with exposure to financial services and Banking sectors. Working Knowledge of IFRS, particular IFRS 9 and the related Banking regulations
  • 3 years’ experience in auditing Banking returns required by the Prudential Authority

Performance Agreement

The performance agreement of the incumbent, which attributes specific targets to the above mentioned outputs would be developed and agreed SEPERATELY based on this Job Description
