JOB SUMMARY:
A Financial Institute in the Centre of Pretoria has a CONTRACT vacancy for a Senior Business Intelligence Technical Architect

The Business Intelligence and Analytics Centre of Excellence (BI and A CoE) requires the services of a Senior BI Technical Architect to assist with detailed technical architecture and BI solution design deliverables for Business Intelligence Projects within the Business and Systems Technology Department
The Senior BI Technical Architect will be required to perform design and architecture functions as per BI standards in the Company

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Information Technology or equivalent

TOGAF certifications
Data Warehouse (Kimball/Inmon)
Proven knowledge of Microsoft Power BI report server and Microsoft Power BI Services
Knowledge of on premise to cloud migration to Microsoft BI Services
Proven knowledge of designed solutions using ORACLE ODI
Minimum of 5 years’ experience with detailed architecture designs on Aracle, SAS, Microsoft BI product stacks
Must be proficient in SQL, Oracle and AIX
Must be experience in using SQL Developer for Oracle
Project exposure (waterfall and agile methodologies)
Must have Solid expertise in designing Star Schemas
Must have experience in BI Infrastructure components from Applications, Databases, Operating Systems and Networks
Formulation and standards for the BI Ecosystem
Must have hands on experience designing solutions that integrate complex data sources in both realtime and ETL based data extraction mechanisms DIMENSIONS
Experience with facilitating workshops
Experience in negotiating for desired outcomes

The Senior BI technical Architect will focus on the detailed technical designs of the Apex Migration Solution as well as oversee and guide the development of the solution against these designs. The business and information technology (IT) needs will be translated into a solution design that enables the developers to use to ensure effective system development and delivery, focusing on making the end to end technical design clear from the input source systems, the required processing and envisioned dissemination of information to both internal and external parties in order to achieve business goals, and address the technical design of the ETL, data warehouse tablets, OLAP cubes, visualisation and data delivery mechanism to stakeholders both address defined user requirements and performance and efficiency issues

The scope will include but will not be limited to:

Provide technical leadership to the project’s resources, which could include Developers, Integration specialists, testers and Business Analysts in delivering a well designed and engineered solution that is integrated with the existing or defined IT architecture and services framework that meets clearly defined technical performance requirements
Engage with the Business Analyst for the BI solution and ensure complete understanding of the business objectives, drivers, functions, structures, details workflows and information needs as per the business specifications document
Responsible for the development of technical design documentation, and supporting the implementation, testing, operation of the solution as well as validation of product certification and highlighting any non-compliances.
Provide continuity of technical understanding across the BI Architecture Blueprint presales architecture, and the definition of technical design during the various phases of solution definition
Assist Project Manager in defining the delivery approach, provide input to estimates and resource planning required to deliver the proposed solution
Liaise with architecture governance team to observe conformity with agreed enterprise standards and to facilitate the implementation of the solution based on the approved and licensed tools while drafting exemptions where required
Lead the project team in the troubleshooting of technical issues related to the project implementation and promote development of expertise in the delivery team
Any other duties and/or deliverables closely related or necessary for the purpose of delivering the services

KEY DELIVERABLES:

BI Detailed technical solution architecture, BI data modelling
Participated in the interpretation of business requirements and functional specifications as provided by the business analyst into BI solution designs
Design of the Extract Transfer and Load (ETL) solution to get data into a data warehouse or data mart according to design specifications
Design of the Data Lineages models
Identity and understand data anomalies
Design the star-schemas and/or cubes for consumption by the BI toolset
Assist in establishing accurate project timelines and development methodology
Be able to take high-level tasks and break them into detailed actions and tasks to be completed
Provide input to the overall project planning process by assisting in establishing accurate project timelines actions required and realistic timeframes for completion of those tasks and actions
Participate in workshops with business owners and stakeholders in respect of clarification of detailed requirements and solutions to those requirements
Deliver allocated project tasks and actions according to agreed quality and timeframes
Ensure that detailed tasks and actions are allocated and completed to limit and mitigate risk within the allocated projects
Develop training manuals, training plans and presenting training courses to support new solution implementations
Staying abreast of changes to analytical tools and methodologies
C0-create with Devops Team
Participate in Design Forums
Review all report specifications in accordance with business requirements
