Senior CEI Inspector

SUMMARY:
A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking a qualified Senior CEI Inspector to join their team in Johnson City, TN. This full-time role involves overseeing Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) projects with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and local municipalities, while also supervising junior inspection staff.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct inspections on bridge, highway, and railroad construction projects

• Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety protocols

• Measure and document construction quantities for contractor payment

• Maintain thorough and accurate daily reports and project documentation

• Monitor traffic control and erosion control for safety and environmental compliance

• Supervise and mentor junior inspectors in the field

• Respond to contractor inquiries and provide on-site problem resolution

• Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of construction inspection experience

• High school diploma (preferred)

• Valid driver’s license required

• Experience in transportation construction (bridge, roadway, rail)

• Relevant certifications, including:

  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety

  • Radiation Safety/Nuclear Gauge/Hazmat Training

  • TDOT or ACI Concrete Field Testing

  • TDOT Aggregate & Hot Mix Asphalt Roadway Certifications

• Familiarity with Site Manager software and roadway plans (preferred)

• Bridge inspection experience (preferred)

• Willingness to work overtime, limited night shifts, and occasional travel
