JOB DESCRIPTION:

Experience and Skills:

The candidate must have:

A Civil Engineering degree (minimum BSc or BEng, post-graduate would be an advantage) specialising in water (hydrology and hydraulics); prior knowledge and experience of the design and management of dams, pipes and pipelines and general storm water systems would be an advantage.
Good understanding of Civil Geotech.
A minimum of 5 - 8 years’ experience with, at least, 3 years in the consulting field.
Experience in the design, construction, operation, closure, and related legal, environmental requirements related to Mine Water Pollution Control Dams (PCD) and Mine Waste Facilities.
This position involves working in multi-disciplinary teams on a range of projects both nationally and overseas.
Must be registered Pr. Eng with ECSA or awaiting registration (i.e. already submitted to ECSA - proven).
Proficiency in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, AutoCAD and / or Civil Designer and HEC-RAS.
Candidate must have a valid (and unendorsed) driver’s license with own transport.

Other skills that would be an advantage:

Experience in numerical modelling of water engineering related projects would be an advantage (seepage, slope stability, dam breach analysis).
Experience in Global Mapper.

Roles and responsibilities:

The candidate will be involved in:

Planning, design and implementation of water related studies associated with the Mineral Residue / Mine Waste Facilities projects including compilation of tender and contract documentation.
Capable of writing high quality proposals, quality technical reports and letters.
Support to Engineer of Record with ongoing monitoring, evaluation and analysis of data, studies and designs related to the complete life cycle of the Facility. The life cycle design includes all legal, water and all other resources protection and health, safety and environmental requirements with a focus on client risk and hazard management requirements.
Construction/site activities.
Ongoing attention to individual and team development and growth to remain at the forefront of Mineral Residue Facility engineering will be a key success factor.
