THE ROLE: SENIOR COMMERCIAL BUSINESS FINANCE BROKER & TEAM LEAD This is a hands-on broking and leadership position. You will manage qualified business-finance opportunities from initial contact through discovery, financial assessment, lender placement, offer presentation and successful completion. You will also help maintain high brokerage standards, strengthen lender relationships and lead, coach and support additional brokers as the team grows. The role requires extensive knowledge of the UK commercial-finance market, strong sales ability, sound financial judgement and proven team-leadership skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Respond quickly and professionally to new borrower opportunities. Conduct comprehensive discovery and fact-find conversations. Understand each customer's business, financial position, funding requirement and intended use of funds. Review accounts, management information, bank statements, existing borrowing and other relevant financial information. Identify potential affordability, credit, fraud and commercial-risk concerns. Recommend appropriate commercial-finance products and lender routes. Match customers with suitable UK lenders based on their circumstances and current lender criteria. Structure straightforward and complex funding cases. Prepare clear, accurate and credible lender proposals. Manage applications, supporting documents and communication with customers and lenders. Present and explain funding offers clearly, including costs, terms, repayments, security, personal guarantees and conditions. Handle objections professionally and convert appropriate approvals into funded outcomes. Coordinate outstanding conditions, documentation and payout. Maintain complete and accurate records within the brokerage platform. Build long-term customer relationships and identify refinancing, repeat-funding and referral opportunities. Build and maintain productive relationships with lenders and finance partners. Lead, coach and support brokers as the team grows. Monitor team activity, case progression, service quality and performance. Help establish consistent brokerage processes and customer-service standards. Escalate cases that fall outside agreed authority, competence or risk parameters. Ensure responsible and commercially suitable customer outcomes remain central to every case. ABOUT YOU Minimum of 3 years' recent, hands-on experience brokering commercial finance in the UK - Non-negotiable. Demonstrable experience managing UK business-finance applications from initial enquiry through lender placement to payout. Strong, current knowledge of UK commercial-finance products, lenders, lending criteria and market conditions. Established relationships or experience working directly with UK commercial lenders and finance providers, including across unsecured markets such as Caps, Capify, Cube and Funder. Previous experience leading, supervising, coaching or mentoring a brokerage, lending or sales team, with a proven target-hitting record. Experience conducting detailed borrower discovery and fact-finding. Strong understanding of business accounts, management information, bank statements, credit information, credit reports, existing debt commitments and existing borrowing. Experience structuring and placing both straightforward and non-standard or complex commercial-finance cases. Ability to assess lender suitability and present a clear rationale for lender and product recommendations. Confidence presenting finance offers, handling objections and closing appropriate opportunities. Strong lender proposal-writing and case-presentation skills. Strong negotiation and objection-handling abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication. Strong organisation and case-management ability. High attention to detail and accurate record-keeping. Sound commercial judgement, integrity and a customer-focused approach. Ability to lead by example and develop a high-performing brokerage team. Comfortable working independently in a remote, fast-moving environment. Available to work Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00 UK time. Experience across unsecured business loans, secured business finance, asset finance, invoice finance, merchant cash advances or revenue-based finance, refinancing and debt consolidation, specialist or adverse-credit cases, personal guarantees and security-backed lending, commercial mortgages, development finance or bridging finance would be advantageous. Experience working with UK commercial-finance broker or lender networks would be advantageous. Experience developing lender relationships or lender panels would be advantageous. Experience working within a growing or technology-enabled brokerage would be advantageous. Relevant commercial-finance, banking, accounting or financial-services qualifications would be beneficial. Substantial practical UK broking experience and demonstrated competence are more important.
