POSITION INFO:
Are you a hands-on mining expert who thrives at the frontline? Do you excel in complex underground environments where contractor performance and operational discipline are critical? This role places you directly inside contractor operations to drive real, immediate, and sustainable impact.
We are seeking Senior Consultants – Contractor Integration to embed within contractor teams and implement structured routines, safety coaching, and shopfloor management systems that accelerate performance improvement and build long-term capability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Shopfloor Excellence:
- Implement a structured shopfloor operating model within contractor operations
- Establish standard work practices and structured work execution
- Deploy point-of-work visual management tools
- Improve shift handovers, self-assessments, and daily routines
- Integrate Safety Coaching into Daily Work:
- Embed safety coaching into supervisor routines (VFLs, SLAMs, and PTOs)
- Coach decision-making using access, start, and continue work principles
- Enhance hazard identification and risk management capability
- Support incident response, learning reviews, and safety conversations
- Develop Contractor Management Routines:
- Create structured routines for contractor supervisors and teams
- Implement shift planning, preparation, and start-of-shift meetings
- Establish communication structures and team meeting agendas
- Maintain shift management books and performance tracking tools
- Drive Performance Improvement:
- Improve contractor KPIs (production, development, grade, and availability)
- Identify bottlenecks and operational constraints
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
- Baseline performance and track progress toward targets
- Build Capability for Long-Term Sustainability:
- Coach supervisors and frontline leaders directly on the job
- Support contractor management in skill transfer and routine adoption
- Build the capacity for consistent self-execution after programme completion
- Facilitate contractor participation in core training programmes
Job Experience & Skills Required (Ideal Candidate Profile):- 8+ years in mining operations, with strong underground experience
- Hands-on frontline supervisory experience or direct support to supervisors
- Experience implementing shopfloor management systems
- Practical knowledge of integrated safety coaching practices
- Strong understanding of contractor operating models
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop frontline leaders
- Highly Advantageous:
- Experience in African mining environments
- Copper mining background
- Experience working with mining contractors or Business Partner models
- Certification in frontline leadership development
- Exposure to OIM or similar operational excellence methodologies
- Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Mining, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- Mine Supervisor Certification or equivalent mining qualification
- Safety coaching or leadership development certification
