Senior Cost Analyst

A South African bank is looking for a Lead Analyst: Costing to join they exceptional team in Sandton.

The successful Lead Analyst: Costing and Projects will be responsible for:

• Ensure that the activity-based cost models are up to date and accurate across all dimensions, including transactions, products and distribution channels, and trusted by the business to drive decision making
• Apply the activity-based costing framework through building new models and/or interrogating existing models in order to generate new insights that contribute to optimising the business
• This requires knowledge and understanding of activity-based costing principles, typically acquired through studying Management Accounting principles
• Activity-based costing / Fixed cost allocation / Company structure / Business knowledge
• Make significant enhancements to existing models
• Build new models
• Drive business and MTSC sign-off of the above
• Develop optimal solutions to complex problems with a high financial impact
• Provide cost-benefit support on all business cases assigned to the Projects team
• Assist departments with ad-hoc costing requirements
• Run the existing models in order to calculate and analyse the monthly cost model results timeously
• Reporting of results to stakeholders
• Monitor monthly cost model outputs and perform variance analysis. Drive inclusion of insights gained back into the cost model
• Maintain model documentation to the standard as required by internal and external stakeholders, including RDARR principles
• Assist departments with ad-hoc costing requirements

Qualifications:

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree
• CA(SA)/ CIMA Completed

Experience:

• 8 years’ experience in an finance/ cost and management accounting function
• Strong strategic understanding of costing ( ABC/ Forecasting and budgeting/ modelling)
• Experience in a management role dealing with stakeholders and Exco
• Financial service experience is a MUST (Business / Retail Banking)
