SUMMARY:
Senior Credit Analyst

Senior Credit Analyst within a Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Credit Risk environment, focused on Mining, Project Finance and Oil & Gas. Only candidates with current or recent Corporate & Investment Banking experience will be considered. This role offers exposure to complex transactions, senior risk committees, and full portfolio ownership.

This opportunity exists within a leading Corporate & Investment Banking environment known for its strong governance, complex deal structures, and highâvalue transactions across the resources and project finance space.
The role is responsible for managing a Resources & Project Finance credit portfolio, delivering highâquality, commercially sound credit risk assessments and supporting responsible risk decisions at a senior level.
This position is strictly suitable for candidates coming from a Corporate & Investment Banking credit risk background.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

Own and manage credit risk for a defined Corporate & Investment Banking Resources & Project Finance portfolio
Conduct detailed credit risk assessments using financial, industry, and macroâeconomic analysis
Prepare and present credit applications and recommendations to relevant credit and risk committees
Manage the full credit lifecycle, including origination support, implementation, monitoring, and restructuring
Deliver monthly portfolio risk MI and present portfolio insights to senior management
Monitor covenant compliance, securities, and emerging risks, ensuring early identification and escalation
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business and specialist partners

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education (Minimum Requirements):

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field
Postgraduate qualification preferred (e.g. CA(SA), CFA, or equivalent)

Experience:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Corporate & Investment Banking credit risk environment
Proven experience covering Mining, Project Finance and/or Oil & Gas
Strong exposure to the full credit lifecycle
Experience presenting to credit committees and senior management

Skills:

Advanced financial and credit analysis skills
Strong commercial judgement
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Proficiency in credit risk systems and Microsoft Office

NonâNegotiables:

Corporate & Investment Banking credit experience is mandatory
Sector exposure to Resources / Project Finance
Ability to operate independently at a senior / VP level
