SUMMARY:

Job Opportunity for a Credit Underwriting Manager. My client is looking for a Credit Underwriting Manager to join a leading global Natural Resources company. This role forms a key part of the company’s global Credit Risk team. The role involves credit risk monitoring, counter-party review analysis, and managing a team of Underwriting Analysts.

POSITION INFO:

The ideal candidate will work closely with global stakeholders to manage the credit risk portfolio and ensure that the team adheres to performance goals.

As a senior member of the team, you will oversee day-to-day operations, manage the limit and rating setting process, and provide guidance to the team. This position requires expertise in managing complex credit structures, asset valuations, and addressing atypical credit risks.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and mentor a team of Credit Underwriting Analysts
Support the Global Head of Underwriting with credit risk assessments and reporting
Perform in-depth financial analysis, limit and rating setting, and re-assessments for a global oil marketing portfolio
Provide guidance on credit risk appetite and asset valuations
Monitor sector trends and produce macro-economic analysis
Report on credit risk performance and KPIs to senior management
Build and maintain effective relationships with senior management and the commercial credit team

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Risk Management, Accounting, Economics, or Business Studies
Post-graduate qualifications, Chartered Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or similar certifications are advantageous
At least 8 years of experience in credit risk or credit underwriting, ideally in Mining, Commodity Trading, Banking, or Consultancy
Strong financial analysis and reporting experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Access); coding skills in VBA, Power BI, or Python are advantageous
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
