 ETL / Senior Data Warehouse / Business Intelligence Developer

Form part of the BI leadership team, take part in discussions, strategy and decision-making on both the assignment and execution of tasks.

Responsible for technical development and construction on ETL, ODS and EDW through the following actions:

Design, develop and maintain ETL processes for the processing of data from various sources into the EDW environment;

Optimize ETL processes, use ETL tools and design principles; and

Design, develop and maintain a EDW using Ralph Kimball principles.

Responsible for data and big-data analytics through the following actions:

Use software development and analytical tools, e.g. Cognos, SSRS, to construct solutions to analytical problems;

Develop big-data analytics capability in collaboration with the BI team;

Render support with model construction and data population; and

Standardize data dictionaries and consistently apply data definitions.

Implement, manage and act according to the IT Governance Charter and IT Governance Framework.

Stay current with developments within the BI environment and insurance landscape with a view to propose opportunities that will affect bottom-line savings and/or mitigate risks and/or enhance effectiveness throughout the organisation.

Support the construction of new business products by providing statistical models, data and analysis.

Work within and help to grow a core team of BI specialists while also developing distributed BI skills across the BI division.

Ensure constant operational efficiency through innovation within areas under control.

Continuously evaluate plans, actions and resources to ensure that objectives are achieved.

An applicable tertiary degree.

Five+ (5+) years DW/BI lifecycle experience of which at least one (1) year should have been leading a technical team.

Hands-on experience in the following:

BI Toolsets (experience with IBM products beneficial);

ETL Applications (experience with IBM products beneficial)

Advanced programming in T-SQL (MS SQL Server a must and Sybase IQ beneficial); and

Implementation of DW/BI environments.

Must possess knowledge of the following:

DW/BI methodologies and implementations based on Kimball principles

BI Tools (Cognos Analytics, Power BI, Tableau etc.)”;

Project management and entry level DBA experience;

Valid K53 driver’s license.

Computer literacy in MS Office (advanced).
