Senior Database Administrator

Our client is looking for a passionate Senior Microsoft SQL Server DBA to join their team. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and administration of enterprise database systems including the security, quality, recoverability, and integrity of data resources. You may also have responsibility for functions such as user administration, database configuration, backup and restore, disaster recovery, deployment, capacity management activities, performance optimization and some development

Duties and responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

• Provide database administration for production and development environments including backup and recovery, performance tuning, physical sizing and monitoring activities, best practice, enforcing standards
• Understand, monitor, and administer database security and perform the role of gatekeeper following established security policies and audit guidelines
• Contribute to the refinement of organizational standards and best practices, and champion quality service delivery by enforcing such standards
• Install, configure, and evaluate multiple versions of SQL server in both single-instance and high-availability methodologies
• Support efforts to monitor and tune databases to improve performance throughout the system development lifecycle, including development and production environments
• Assist in the resolution of issues
• Assist in providing expert advice on industry standards and policies
• Creates and maintains database administration guides\SOP for clients
• Responds to unexpected database outages; determines failed component and extent of impact; identifies options and selects and assigns remedial and recovery activities; escalates issues to other sections and vendors as required; ensures status of problem is being tracked, logged, and communicated; rectifies problems with database components; develops and implements data restoration procedures as required; participates in debriefing the outage and develops measures to prevent reoccurrence.
• Assist in proposing strategic database improvements in technical areas of database implementation, support, and enhancement
• Assist in development, documents, and enforces data security and disaster recovery plan with consideration for key dependencies
• Assist in a consulting capacity supporting development teams during application design and implementation phases
• Troubleshoots user database issues, including working with end-user groups, external clients, technical support organizations, or 3rd party vendors
• DBA process refinement
• Guide and mentor intermediate and junior Microsoft SQLServer DBA’s
• Any other duties that may be reasonably required
