Senior Deceased Estates Administrator - Essential Experience 

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Independently administer deceased estates from inception through to finalisation. Report and register deceased estates with the Master of the High Court. Prepare and submit all required estate documentation. Manage the full estate administration and statutory compliance process. Liaise with the Master’s Office, SARS, banks, investment institutions, insurance companies, executors, beneficiaries, creditors and other relevant parties. Identify, manage and realise estate assets. Obtain valuations of estate assets and liabilities. Receive, assess and deal with creditors’ claims. Place the prescribed statutory advertisements. Prepare Liquidation and Distribution Accounts. Calculate and pay the applicable Master’s fees. Attend to Section 42(2) endorsements and the transfer, sale or disposal of immovable property. Prepare estate duty calculations and submit the required SARS returns. Obtain the necessary SARS tax compliance or tax clearance documentation. Perform estate cashbook and bank reconciliations. Address queries raised by the Master of the High Court, SARS, creditors, beneficiaries and other interested parties. Prepare estate reconciliations and arrange the distribution of inheritances to beneficiaries. Maintain accurate estate files, records, financial information and correspondence. Monitor statutory timelines and follow up on outstanding documentation or information. Keep executors, beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders informed of progress. Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, SARS requirements and Master’s Office procedures. Essential Experience The successful candidate must be competent and experienced in: Reporting and registering deceased estates with the Master of the High Court. Managing the complete estate administration and statutory compliance process. Dealing with creditors’ claims and the realisation of estate assets. Liaising with financial institutions and other relevant stakeholders. Preparing Liquidation and Distribution Accounts. Placing statutory advertisements. Calculating and paying Master’s fees. Attending to Section 42(2) endorsements and immovable property matters. Preparing estate duty calculations and submitting SARS returns. Completing estate cashbook and bank reconciliations. Resolving queries from the Master’s Office, SARS, creditors and beneficiaries. Obtaining SARS tax compliance or tax clearance documentation. Finalising the estate and distributing the inheritance to the beneficiaries. The candidate must be comfortable independently administering a deceased estate from the initial reporting and acceptance of the matter through to finalisation, including completion of the Master’s and SARS processes. Minimum Requirements Extensive previous experience independently administering deceased estates is essential. Sound working knowledge of the Administration of Estates Act and related estate procedures. Proven experience dealing with the Master of the High Court and SARS. Proven ability to prepare Liquidation and Distribution Accounts. Strong numerical, accounting and financial administration skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience using estate administration software will be advantageous. A relevant legal, fiduciary, paralegal or estate administration qualification will be advantageous.
