Senior Developer

Our client is a top line software development, support and administration business specialising in the provision of a software solution that offers an integrated management, accounting and workflow administration system for employee benefit funds administration.   

Although located in Johannesburg, Gauteng, the role will be offered to the best person we can find, whether your preference is for working in a team environment on site or if you prefer opting for remote employment. 

As a Senior Developer you will be responsible for development and maintenance to new and existing products in the business in a manner that supports a strong culture of Innovation, Integrity and Trust that underpins everything our client does. The products are built predominantly on the Microsoft stack and are written in C# for Winforms, ASP.NET, Web API MVC, as well as Xamarin.

Specifically your tasks will include:

• Plan, design, develop, test, maintain, deploy, and support web-, mobile- and desktop-based business applications.
• Provide second-level support to business users and consulting teams.
• Package and support deployment of releases.
• Provide technical leadership to junior team members through coaching and mentorship.
• Prepare reports, manuals and other documentation on the setup, operation, and maintenance of software.
• Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.
• Work with team members in the migration of legacy applications to current technologies.
• Analyse and resolve technical and application problems.
• Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected parties.
• Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time.
• Research and evaluate a variety of software products.

Required Skills:

• Superior verbal and written communication skills including communication with all levels of employees within an organisation and external parties.
• Familiarity with common business/development software, primarily within the Microsoft Stack.
• Effectively deliver projects on-time, within the scope that meets or exceeds stakeholder expectations.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Planning, organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work on multiple high-pressure projects at the same time.
• Ability to effectively divide available capacity amongst new developments and ongoing support/maintenance items.

Experience and educational profile requirements

• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (or related field)
• At least 5 years C# development experience.
• At least 3 years T-SQL development experience.

Great if you also have

• Valid Microsoft Accreditations.
• Azure Experience.
• Xamarin Experience.
• Azure DevOps experience.
