Senior Electrician

SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for a Senior Electrician with advanced electrical knowledge and with supervisory ability to join the team.

Purpose of the job:

The Senior Electrician will be an experienced individual who can provide good engineering practices, reliable preventative maintenance while adhering to company standards and procedures in ensuring that the assets of the company are always maintained to the required standards.  The successful incumbent will be responsible to oversee and coordinate effective training, development and assessment of assigned apprentices and responsible areas and departments consists of Weaving, Knitting, Preparation, Make-up, Dyehouse, Warehouse, Factory Shop and Admin.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

Maintenance:

• Ensure that predictive & preventive maintenance is effectively performed to minimize downtime and maintenance
• Attend machine breakdowns as quickly as possible to minimize
• Ensure that safety standards are maintained and best practices followed when maintaining
• Solve problems as they arise and ensure that any major problems have been communicated to the Engineering Manager ASAP.
• Manage critical spares to minimize downtime due to equipment
• Fix damaged or worn parts to be put back into production to save money on spares wherever
• Control all relevant tools and critical spares so that they are available when
• Manage maintenance expenditure (spares/contract work) in line with the
• Maintain housekeeping standards to prevent accidents or
• Maintain documentation and records for traceability and analysis

• Assess modifications or new equipment requirements to meet new product.
• Provide input to improve current machinery and operations to optimized

• Act as a subject matter expert to assist other artisans in resolving technical
• Act as a mentor and coach to uplift people, improve motivation and provide life
• Facilitate performance management and disciplinary
• Conduct training as and when required to ensure skills transfer and enable.
• Identify potential and manage personal development.
• Perform routine assessments and trade tests on apprentices throughout their training period.

• Grade 12
• Electrician Trade
• 5 or more years’ working experience as an Electrician in a Textile
• Good communication and Interpersonal
• Technical and training
