SUMMARY:
Join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary Energy team and play a key role in delivering impactful energy projects across South Africa and beyond. The position can be based in Cape Town or Johannesburg.

As a Senior Energy Consultant, you’ll support the continued growth and success of our Energy Consulting division, leading internal teams and contributing to business development, project management, and technical delivery across a range of exciting projects — including solar PV, wind, battery storage, green hydrogen, energy transition, and mini/micro-grid initiatives.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

B.Eng. or BSc. in Electrical or Mechatronics engineering, preferably with a further qualification in renewable energy
Professional registration with ECSA.
Strong understanding of grid connections, large-scale project structures, and key industry stakeholders is essential.
Proficient in MS Office and other technical software such as PVSyst, AutoCAD, Revit, DigSilent, MS Project, HOMER, XENDEE
Financial acumen, with respect to energy projects and project finance is required.
Knowledge of industrial processes as well as technologies for decarbonising those processes will be a distinct advantage.
Business development, client-facing, team leadership, technical skills, written skills, people skills and contractual skills are all of importance.

Knowledge of project planning and management, feasibility studies, concept design development and preparation of technical specifications and tender documentation - with a particular focus on photovoltaic, wind, storage, minigrids/micro-grids and grid systems will be an advantage

Key Responsibilities:
Project management (resourcing, financial management, etc.) and delivery of:

Lender’s advisory, owner’s engineer and design services within the renewable energy sector for private Independent Power Producer clients, including: project planning and management, feasibility studies, concept design development and preparation of technical specifications and tender documentation - with a particular focus on photovoltaic, wind, storage, minigrids/micro-grids and grid systems.

Strategic technical advice leading to concept designs and feasibility studies for decarbonisation roadmaps, involving electrification, hydrogen, biofuels, energy efficiency, etc.
Writing technical reports & presentations, checking and reviewing reports, drawings and presentations by others.
Preparation and delivery of bids and proposals. Winning work. Business Development. Identifying opportunities and positioning the company to access and get involved in such opportunities.
Driving the development of more junior energy team members in the Cape Town and Johannesburg offices, via mentoring and provision of technical and commercial guidance.
