SUMMARY:
A top consulting engineering firm is seeking to employ a Senior Engineering Geologist in the Geotechnical Engineering Department.

This role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work in a collaborative, technically rigorous environment where mentorship and knowledge-sharing are key while contributing to high-profile mining, industrial and infrastructure projects in South Africa and the region.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

BSc (Hons) Engineering Geology (minimum)
Professional registration with SACNASP essential.
Involvement in voluntary associations would be beneficial (SAIEG)
Minimum of 10 years’ practical experience in engineering geology.
Strong track record in geotechnical investigations for a variety of sectors, both in South Africa and Africa.
Dolomite-specific experience would be advantageous.
Rock engineering specific experience would be advantageous.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and supervise junior engineering geologists and geotechnologists.

Key responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Geotechnical investigations: Planning, execution, and reporting for a variety of investigation levels (preliminary, feasibility, detailed design).
Data analysis: Collection, analysis, and interpretation of geotechnical data.
Site supervision: Supervising geotechnical contractors and junior staff, including appointment of contractors, oversight of site operations, and ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality, and environmental standards.
Mentorship: Supervision and mentoring of junior staff (students, graduates, junior engineering geologists and geotechnologists).
Reporting: Preparation and delivery of professional quality technical reports and presentations.
Decision making: Providing sound technical solutions and decisions throughout project phases.
Project delivery: Ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to client specifications.
Procurement of work: Preparation of quotations, tenders, specifications, and cost estimates.
