POSITION INFO:

An established, privately owned group operating in the frozen food trading and cold storage sector is seeking a seasoned Senior Financial Accountant to join their team in Morningside, Durban.

This is a key role within a medium-sized business environment, offering broad exposure across multiple entities within the group. The successful candidate will report directly to the Financial Manager and work within a flat, open-plan office structure.

Working Hours
Monday to Thursday: 08h00 – 16h30
Friday: 08h00 – 16h00

Minimum Requirements

BCompt Honours (or equivalent tertiary qualification)
Completed Articles
10–12 years’ financial accounting experience within a medium-sized company (non-corporate environment)
Advanced Excel skills
Advanced IT and relational database experience (Crystal Reports advantageous)
Strong general IT knowledge
Solid understanding of internal controls and financial processes
Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving ability
Highly methodical with excellent attention to detail
Energetic, positive and proactive approach
Strong team player

Key Responsibilities

Full month-end preparation across multiple entities, including reconciliations of all Statement of Financial Position accounts
Preparation and processing of journals
Financial analysis and reporting
VAT and taxation calculations
Annual audit preparation and oversight across entities
BBBEE audit preparation and oversight
Fixed asset control and management
Review and sign-off of invoices, GRVs and payments
Administration of statutory information
Preparation of monthly schedules for month-end close
Cell phone administration
Assisting the Financial Manager with day-to-day management of the finance department
Supporting project roll-outs and other ad hoc duties as required

This role requires a hands-on, detail-driven accounting professional who is comfortable working across multiple entities and thrives in a dynamic operational environment.
