Senior Financial Manager (Sandton, Jhb) - 6-month contract

SUMMARY:
Our client, in Sandton, is looking for a Senior Financial Manager to join their team on a 6-month contract basis.

The Senior Financial Manager will be responsible for end‑to‑end financial and treasury management, including statutory and tax compliance, financial and management reporting, budget and forecast preparation, cash flow oversight, internal controls, ERP systems governance, and risk management.

Controlling, budgeting and forecasting

• Set, track and monitor financial targets for each Business Unit / Department within the business, against approved budgets.
• Coordinate and lead the preparation of the budget and periodic reforecasting, including variance analysis across Business Units, Balance Sheets, P&L, Cash Flows and WCM.
• Develop, maintain and continuously improve the financial forecasting models (Business units, P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow).
• Own monthly management reporting timelines, ensuring accurate, timely delivery of performance packs.
• Monitor project results and forecasts monthly, highlighting risks/opportunities and recommending corrective actions.
• Coordinate all reporting processes to Head Quarters (Germany) and ensure alignment to group standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance and controlling processes.
• Preparation of all executive and board financial presentations, on a monthly, quarterly and as required basis.

• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting, maintaining high standards of accuracy and completeness.
• Manage the full accounting function (GL integrity, sub-ledgers, reconciliations, journals, reporting close).
• Implement measures to improve WCM position.
• Lead and coordinate the month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure adherence to internal and external deadlines.
• Research and resolve technical accounting matters and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and standards.
• Maintain and implement finance policies, procedures and document management standards.

• Take responsibility for the entire cash management process.
• Ensure effective cash flow and net liquidity management.
• Liaise with the bank relationship manager and other stakeholders and manage banking relationships and processes impacting payment execution.
• Ensure controls around bank platforms (user access, payment templates, limits, signature mandated guided authorisation, audit trails) are implemented and reviewed periodically.
• Oversee the timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors.
• Monitoring cash inflows from key customer accounts

• Facilitate the application and maintenance of insurance policies and bank guarantees.
• Manage all insurance claims processes effectively.

• To identify opportunities to reduce insurable and non-insurable risks
• To optimise the best possible risk to coverage ratio in the best interest of the company

• Ensure effective support and availability of the main and supporting ERP systems used by finance and the wider business.
• Lead finance requirements for system enhancements (reporting, controls, automation), partnering with IT and operational stakeholders.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
• Ensure timely completion, filing, and submission and payment deadlines of any tax returns.
• Provide guidance to the business on any transactions with tax implications, ensuring correct treatment and risk mitigation.
• Ensure accurate tax computations and well-supported estimates, staying with relevant legislative changes.
• Remain up to date with changes to the most relevant tax legislation applicable to the business and train supporting departments with any changes to be effected through transactional records.

• Manage and report on any special projects as assigned, including turnaround initiatives, cost optimisation and process redesign.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and leadership support aligned to business priorities.
• Ensure effective and compliant document management system for department.
• Recruit, manage the performance, train, develop and retain Human Capital to achieve above objectives being mindful financial talent pipelines and BBBEE requirements.
• Any other job related duties as required from time to time.
• Design, implement and monitor key internal controls designed to minimise the risk of fraud and error in key operational cycles.

• Chartered Accountant registered with SAICA.
• 10 + Years' relevant experience of which 5 years is in a managerial capacity.
• International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) knowledge and experience in practice: IFRS 9, IFRS 15, IFRS 16.
• Knowledge and experience of Income tax, VAT act and treasury processes and principles.
• Knowledge and experience of project accounting.
• Insurance and risk management knowledge.
• Computer literate (MS Office, SAP and financial modelling).
