Merchant West is on the lookout for a Senior IT Developer with the depth and experience to take ownership of development initiatives, collaborate across teams, and raise the bar for clean, scalable, and high-performing code. Duties:

Design, implement, and manage software solutions across financial services systems.
Drive innovation by improving existing platforms and integrating new technologies.
Collaborate with Business Analysts and IT stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Develop and maintain web applications using Blazor Server.
Enhance and manage backend services, ensuring stability, performance, and scalability.
Work closely with the broader Development team to enforce coding standards and share best practices.
Mentor and support junior developers within the team.

Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:

Matric (Grade 12)
Bachelor’s degree in IT or relevant field (essential)

Experience:

Minimum of 7 years working experience in software development.

3+ years hands-on experience with:

C#
Visual Studio
.NET Framework and .NET Core
Blazor Server (non-negotiable)
Bootstrap
Web API, MVC, EF Core, WC
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2017, including writing advanced queries and stored procedures.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong understanding of software design principles, including SOLID and GoF (Gang of Four) patterns.
Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Attention to detail with a focus on clean, maintainable code.
Self-motivated and able to lead initiatives without close supervision.
