Senior Interior Designer

SUMMARY:
Experienced Interior Designer required to join a design and décor house in the Ballito area. Responsible for managing multiple projects ranging from small to large-sized projects, with minimal supervision including full architectural solutions in coordination with an architect.

Job Summary

The Senior Interior Designer shall be responsible for specifications of interior finishes + Fixtures, completing projects with accuracy, within budget and creativity while monitoring project performance within contract hours and meeting customer expectations.

 

Responsibilities

• Sourcing and researching of imagery, ideas, specification, and new suppliers to use on various projects.
• Thorough knowledge of MM Designs, standards, and procedures.
• Collaboration with Architects to ensure the architecture has necessary space/requirements from a lifestyle point of view / how the space will work for the client in terms of functionality, furniture layout, etc.
• Furniture Layouts/Spatial planning of spaces.
• Developing Concept  Presentations in collaboration with decor Team, presented to Client which include 3D Visuals of Interior Spaces depicting Joinery Design, and any major design details.
• Custom modelling of furniture, lighting, adding fabrics to scatters, sofas, rugs, etc in collaboration with Decor Team.
• Generating Schedules (Excel) at SD Stage which is essentially a Schedule of all specs including, Finishes, lighting, Equipment, Sanware, Hardware, Electrical Sockets + Switches which have been agreed and approved by client during Concept Stage.
• Client Liaison via email/telephone – ongoing through the design process.
• Production of General Floor Plan Package (SD stage) – including, demolition, General Floor Plan/Furniture Layout, Electrical & Plumbing, Lighting Layout, Reflected Ceiling Plan including HVAC + Audio positions, Floor + Wall Finishes Plans, Window Treatment Plan.
• Production of Detail drawings (DD Stage) of Joinery, and Wet Areas for Costing and Ultimately manufacture.
• Responsible for sending out drawings during TD (Tender Stage) Stage and communicating with Suppliers accordingly to provide costs for Quotations to Client.
• Skill in designing bespoke Built in furniture including a comprehensive knowledge of furniture detailing and construction technology.
• Excellent time management to ensure all deadlines are continuously met.
• Working with 3D Software to produce CGI low resolution render.
• Installations on-site.
• Factory Visits – overseeing the manufacturing process, quality controlling at factories for all bespoke furniture and lighting being manufactured for Clients.
• Site Visits – confirming wall sizes prior to manufacturing to ensure plans match built and furniture will fit.
• Admin – Client Meeting Minutes
• Take full accountability and responsibility for the project fee proposals and project feasibility.

 

Essential Skills and Criteria

•  National diploma in Interior Design or equivalent.
•  Strong working experience in AutoCAD, and 3D Software (Sketch-up + V-ray).
• Minimum 5-7 years work experience.
• Identifies and shares innovative ways of improving current systems and processes
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Good leadership skills.
• Ability to understand and formulate design concepts and present for discussion.
• A discerning taste in Interior design, furniture and art.
• Ability to use a variety of media and software in the development and documentation of a design project.
• Ability to understand and interpret instructions accurately.
• Ability to learn and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills.
• Able to set and achieve deadlines and give regular updates on progress.
• Methodical, accurate and consistent attention to detail.
• High levels of communication and easy to work with. Clear and concise thinker.
• Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information.
