SUMMARY:
The Role:

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer - Software Developer for a contract position.

 

• Degree in IT or relevant experience 

 

• Must be available immediately
• Area: Midrand/Menlyn/Rosslyn/ Home office rotation

 

8 years+ in this role

• 2nd and 3rd level Support and adhoc Full Stack development maintenance for public facing and internal web applications
• AWS Cloud, API, Java, Microservice and other Serverless support and maintenance/development
• Collaborate with the organisation Central IT solutions, Web Cloud Platform (WCP) and Web Content Management Platform (WCMP) (based on Adobe Experience Manager)
• Support Migration of website to AWS Cloud
• Website monitoring
• Site performance analysis.
• General management of website
• Participate in stand-ups
• Support other DevOps team members with adhoc tasks including database queries, troubleshooting, test data creation, production issues, defects, etc.
• Meet with end users and gather requirements
• Analyse and Implement new system requirements specifications
• Ensure that all processes are investigated / considered in obtaining the specifications of the user requirements
• Propose and review system designs and evaluate alternatives
• Review and present proposals / system solutions to IT Project Lead, DevOps
• Team, QA Team, and Product Owner / Business team
• Ad hoc development of systems solutions in line with quality and delivery requirements
• Analyse and fix Production Known Errors
• System testing/parallel runs
• Prepare Production deployment artefacts
• Prepare Production deployment plan documents
• Preparation of system/technical documentation (as per ISO standards)
• Preparation/Updating of user and operation manuals and other Confluence documentation
• System implementation / deployment release activities
• Production support hyper-care after production deployments
• AWS Cloud knowledge (migration of applications to the cloud, deployment on AWS, development on AWS, other cloud knowledge and experience, e.g. Azure, Openshift)

• Maven multi module project setup and development
• IntelliJ Eclipse IDE

• Git with Bitbucket, Code versioning (Git/SVN)
• Jenkins with Build Pipelines
• Code quality with Sonar
• Junit with unit and integration tests
• Integration with 3rd party systems
• Performing production and integration deployments
• Logging and tracking tickets to external support
• Troubleshooting deployments
• Debugging remote services
• Knowledge of integration with AEM or other Web Content Management Platforms / Solutions (highly advantageous)
• Environment management / solution architectural experience (highly advantageous)

• Strong ability to understand and interpret Business needs and requirements with the ability to move concepts through to proposal and finally successful implementation.
