Senior Manager: Internal Audit

SUMMARY:
To provide assurance on the adequacy of internal control systems

POSITION INFO:

Key Performance Areas:

1. Develop, monitor and manage Head Office audit universe and risk-based annual audit plan to determine the priorities of the portfolio.
2. Track audit coverage and report on progress to the Head of Internal Audit.
3. Develop and update risk based audit programs for Head Office Audit Portfolio.
4. Develop and record a plan for each engagement; including the scope, objectives, and timing, budget and resource allocations.
5. Identify and evaluate significant risk exposures relating to the governance, risk management and control processes and make appropriate recommendations for improvement.
6. Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the internal control system in the Bank.
7. Perform audits on projects where applicable to the operations environment.
8. Discuss and clear audit findings and reports with line supervisor/management.
9. Lead and guide audit team on engagements.
10. Ensure that internal quality assurance reviews (QAR) meet quality standards.
11. Ensure that timelines as stipulated in the methodology are adhered to in terms of completion, reporting and submission of Internal QAR.
12. Communicate results in writing including, objectives, scope, applicable conclusions, recommendations, and action plans.
13. Track audit issues and report to the Head of Internal Audit on progress.
14. Manage, train and develop staff.
15. Identify areas where continuous assurance audits can be performed on the portfolio.
16. Perform continuous assurance audits.

Qualifications, Experience, knowledge and skills:

• Relevant Postgraduate qualification is essential.
• CIA/ CA(SA) is essential.

• Qualifications, Experience, knowledge and skills:

  • 5-8 years’ experience of which 3 years should be Internal Audit experience.
  • Article experience is desirable.
  • Financial Services Audits are essential.
  • Credit Audits is desirable.
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles is essential.
  • Sound understanding of Internal Auditing principles is essential.
  • Knowledge of FICA, Money Laundering, OHASA, Bank’s Acts and TCF principles is essential.
  • Understanding of Banking products and applicable regulations is essential.
  • Working knowledge of auditing software (e.g. ACL) is essential.
  • Analytical skills are essential.
  • Strong Report writing skills are essential.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Can work under pressure and minimum supervision is essential.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, willing and able to travel extensively & to work overtime and weekends if required is essential.
  • Ability to work independently is essential.
  • Good time management and able to work against tight deadlines is essential.
  • Knowledge of TeamMate operations is essential.
