Senior Manager: Internal Audit

POSITION INFO:

To provide assurance on the adequacy of internal control systems.

Key Performance Areas:

• Develop, monitor and manage Head Office audit universe and risk-based annual audit plan to determine the priorities of the portfolio.
• Track audit coverage and report on progress to the Head of Internal Audit.
• Develop and update risk based audit programs for Head Office Audit Portfolio.
• Develop and record a plan for each engagement; including the scope, objectives, and timing, budget and resource allocations.
• Identify and evaluate significant risk exposures relating to the governance, risk management and control processes and make appropriate recommendations for improvement.
• Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the internal control system in the Bank.
• Perform audits on projects where applicable to the operations environment.
• Discuss and clear audit findings and reports with line supervisor/management.
• Lead and guide audit team on engagements.
• Ensure that internal quality assurance reviews (QAR) meet quality standards.
• Ensure that timelines as stipulated in the methodology are adhered to in terms of completion, reporting and submission of Internal QAR.
• Communicate results in writing including, objectives, scope, applicable conclusions, recommendations, and action plans.
• Track audit issues and report to the Head of Internal Audit on progress.
• Manage, train and develop staff.
• Identify areas where continuous assurance audits can be performed on the portfolio.
• Perform continuous assurance audits.

Qualifications, Experience, knowledge and skills:

• Relevant Postgraduate qualification is essential.
• CIA/ CA(SA) is essential.
• 5-8 years’ experience of which 3 years should be Internal Audit experience

• Qualifications, Experience, knowledge and skills:

• Article experience is desirable.
• Financial Services Audits are essential.
• Credit Audits is desirable.
• Sound understanding of accounting principles is essential.
• Sound understanding of Internal Auditing principles is essential.
• Knowledge of FICA, Money Laundering, OHASA, Bank’s Acts and TCF principles is essential.
• Understanding of Banking products and applicable regulations is essential.
• Working knowledge of auditing software (e.g. ACL) is essential.
• Analytical skills are essential.
• Strong Report writing skills are essential.
• Strong communication skills are essential.
• Can work under pressure and minimum supervision is essential.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, willing and able to travel extensively & to work overtime and weekends if required is essential.
• Ability to work independently is essential.
• Good time management and able to work against tight deadlines is essential.
• Knowledge of TeamMate operations is essential.
