Senior Mechanical Costing Estimator

Minimum Education:
Matric
National Diploma or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (sufficient experience will also be considered)

Minimum Experience:
5 - 10 years technical sales experience in the engineering industry

Computer Packages:
AutoCad and strong MS Excel skills

Duties and Requirements includes but is not limited towards the following:
Compile a quotation by obtaining various quotes from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
Compile a quotation by calculating direct labour (assembly-fabrication-welding) costs, machine costs, and material costs
Compile damage reports together with the technical team to accompany quotation
Understand the needs of our various customers to ensure we quote accurately and competitively
Determine factors affecting costs, such as production time, materials, direct labour and services
Work with buyers to obtain material costs that fits the customers requirements namely lead time, price and alternates
Presenting prepared estimates to management and other clients
Maximize contact with existing and new customers, influential contacts and other critical people at various organizations and focus efforts to obtain new work and generation of new enquiries for the business
Develop and maintain the Sales & Business Development process / pipeline for business to ensure the achieved sales targets
Analyse, review, report sales data, sales budgets, and sales activities to the Sales Director
Foster and develop positive customer relationships which result in increased business

Knowledge relating to either of the following:
Manufacturing of components
Component repairs
Machining processes
Welding applications
Fabrication processes
Assembly procedures

You will be responsible for:
Receiving, reading and understanding drawings from customers
Quoting the client on the time and costs required according to the drawings
Costing & sourcing of materials required to manufacture components
Asses repair jobs, and be able to quote on the repairs thereof
Understand the mechanical components to manufacture products for clients.
Work out estimated costs for labour, materials and machining time and capabilities on order to manufacture products
Knowledge of the following machines: CNC machines, Conventional Machines and Turning Machines
Determine work processes for profit
