Our Client is now recruiting for key positions to deliver large-scale, multi-discipline projects for international clients.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to: Engineering Manager

Experience in the Pharmaceutical, Bio-Pharmaceutical or Semi-Conductor industry is essential.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the mechanical design engineering works for the project, taking ownership of design work packs and managing from design phase through to construction phase.

Responsibilities will include implementing project policies, systems & procedures. Coordinating with the Engineering Manager, studying specifications and procedures for engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake mechanical systems design, including but not limited to equipment sizing, specification, arrangements, schematics, 3D models, calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Lead 30%, 60%, 90% & IFC Mechanical Design Review & Coordination.
  • Contribute to the sustainable design initiative within the company with close attention to energy management, design for sustainability and implementation of sustainable design technologies.
  • Detailed design coordination with other disciplines.
  • Provide Field Design Verification during the project cycle.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Act as primary technical point of contact for all mechanical vendors or consultants.
  • Responding to site RFIs, conducting reviews of specialist suppliers or contractor prepared designs, and lead team meetings to resolve design issues.
  • Ensure best document management practices are applied to all project documentation.
  • Ensuring project compliance with the relevant codes & standards Eg: (ASME, PED, ISO, ANSI, ASTM)
  • Proficient in system modelling and analysis software such as Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, AutoCAD or similar.
  • Ensure all mechanical systems are designed in compliance with all Corporate and Statutory Regulations and Guidelines in relation to EHS regulations.
  • Evaluate and provide input on new design concepts which were not a part of the original scope of work.
  • Accountable for ensuring execution of the project scope is technically aligned and in compliance with Project Operations, Policies, Standards of Business Conduct, and company Project Management System (PMS).
  • Oversee and manages all technical aspects of design and materials procurement, vendor/subcontractor interfaces to meet timely delivery.
  • Responsible to monitor the engineering schedule and related milestones, provides data and recovery plans to address any technical issues or schedule delays
  • Evaluate and advise to Engineering Manager on mechanical related design changes to ensure efficient change management.
  • Forecast, plan and manage Individual & Team workload, Progress against agreed plan and criteria.
  • Managing other professionals on a project basis (engineers, BIM/CAD technicians, and support staff) and ensuring that work produced is to the required quality, produced on time.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Knowledge and/or Experience

10+ years of mechanical design experience at a senior engineering or advisory level with specific knowledge of engineering & execution of large-scale projects and operations.

Specific knowledge of advanced technologies and practices in the bio-pharmaceutical or semi-conductor industry is essential for this role.

Technical and Business Skills

  • Excellent written and oral English skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning and coordination skills.
  • Strong technical, prioritization and management skills.
  • Good communication, influencing and interface skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs.
  • Proficient in Engineering Design software programs such as: Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, AutoCAD or similar.
  • Extensive knowledge of design standards, specifications, guides, and procedures.
