SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in composite materials and advanced manufacturing. In this role, you will lead the design and development of high-performance composite components and structures, ensuring innovative, lightweight, and robust solutions across our product portfolio.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in composite materials and advanced manufacturing. In this role, you will lead the design and development of high-performance composite components and structures, ensuring innovative, lightweight, and robust solutions across our product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end mechanical design of composite components, from concept to production release.
Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings to industry standards.
Select appropriate composite materials, lay-up strategies, and manufacturing processes (e.g., prepreg, RTM, filament winding, vacuum infusion).
Perform structural analysis and optimization of composite designs using FEA tools.
Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and materials engineering teams to ensure design feasibility and production efficiency.
Support prototype builds, testing campaigns, and performance validation activities.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, design best practices, and material innovation.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in mechanical design within the composites industry (aerospace, automotive, marine, sporting goods, industrial, etc.).
Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo).
Solid understanding of composite material behavior, laminate theory, and manufacturing processes.
Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, HyperWorks or similar) for composite structures.
Excellent knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and industry standards.
Strong project leadership skills and ability to manage complex design tasks.
Excellent communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
