SUMMARY:
Mining Engineer

POSITION INFO:

Experience Required:

6-12 Years
Mandatory: Relevant Mine Planning Experience
Preferable: Consulting experience at least 2 years

Preferred Qualifications: BEng (Mining) or Mine Planning

Professional Membership Requirements: Pr. Eng (application), SAIMM member (for CPR Reserve sign-off)

EE/AA: Preferred, but not mandatory

Location: Centurion, Gauteng. The consultant will be expected to travel periodically to client sites to perform project work.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

Performing technical mining engineering tasks and outputs on an expert level

Block modelling & re-blocking

Strategic mine design, scheduling & reporting

Equipment Studies

Operating Cost Models

Mining related Inputs for Financial Modelling

Technical Reports and CPR''''s

Trade-off studies / Options analysis

Cut-off grade analysis

Building service offering toolkits and competency

Lead and own Projects + Multiple projects involvement

Worksession Facilitation

Writing articles

Mining Skills Required:

Short, medium, and long term mine planning

Understanding of various mining methods

Underground experience will be beneficial

Expert knowledge of entire mining value chain for 3-5 commodities

Compliance code exposure

Understanding the context of project documentation (Concept, PFS, FS, DD, CPR, MWP)

To fully utilize available mining engineering specialist software packages (I.e. Deswik (Preferable), Surpac, Mineshed)

To provide solid technical inputs to every project/problem/situation that might arise under the project framework

General Skills Required:

Good consulting understanding and aptitude

Building Client relationship

Grow business footprint

Efficient and effective delivery

Plan, do, coordinate & manage self and operate without supervision (Ensure own quality)

Project management understanding

Project reporting and presentation

Professional client engagement and presentation

To effectively work as part of a team

Technical report writing

Provide proposal input

Training, developing and mentoring team members
