SUMMARY:
A vacancy for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Geologist has become available in our Johannesburg office. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacancy. The successful candidate will report to the SBU Partner.

POSITION INFO:

Description:

A qualified individual with experience in mining geotechnical projects. The applicant would be expected to lead small teams of engineers and scientists, develop a client base and have a good understanding of Project Management.

Experience and Skills:

The candidate must:

Be registered as a candidate engineer or professional engineer (Pr. Eng.) with ECSA or professional natural scientist (Pr. Sci. Nat.) with SACNASP;
At least have a BSc in Civil Engineering/Mining Engineering /BSc Hons in Engineering Geology;
COMREC certificate or a MSc will be an advantage;
A minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience.

General Requirements:

Planning, design analysis, detailing and implementation of mining geotechnical design projects;
Planning, design, implementation and management of geotechnical site investigations;
Conduct reviews on mining operational geotechnical programmes;
Provide input into all phases of mine geotechnical studies, specifically in the development of inputs and geotechnical models.
Management of projects including client liaison, design, quality control, budgets, invoicing and mentoring of junior staff;
Submitting proposals/tenders to clients;

Travelling in South Africa and Africa/abroad will be required;
Must have the potential to develop into a team leader;
Have a reliable vehicle with a valid driver’s licence.
