SUMMARY:

Seeking a seasoned IT Technical Project Manager to take ownership of large-scale, mission-critical initiatives that will shape the future of the organisation’s technology landscape.

POSITION INFO:
An established and forward-thinking South African financial services organisation is embarking on a significant technology modernisation journey. Operating within a highly regulated, risk-intensive insurance environment, the business is investing heavily in its core platforms, digital capability and delivery maturity.

This role is suited to a delivery leader who combines deep technical understanding, structured execution and strong stakeholder influence.

Responsibilities:

Driving core system modernisation and legacy platform replacement
Managing large, multi-stream programmes with budgets exceeding R55m
Ensuring delivery aligns with business strategy, IT architecture and regulatory requirements
Embedding strong governance, risk management and delivery discipline
Enabling collaboration across technology teams, business units and external partners

Requirements:

Honours Degree (NQF 8) in a relevant field (Master’s preferred)
Recognised Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent)
8–10 years’ experience leading complex IT or engineering projects
5+ years in a senior Technical Project Manager / Programme Manager / Delivery Lead role
Experience within financial services, ideally short-term insurance
Hands-on involvement in core insurance platform implementations (e.g. Guidewire, Duck Creek, Sapiens)
Demonstrated success delivering legacy modernisation or core platform replatforming
