Responsibilities:

• Improve the processes and practices the team follow
• Pro-active in seeking out issues to improve code quality
• Ability to pay attention to both functional and non-functional requirements
• Keeping up to date with new technologies within the data landscape
• Ensuring data quality, performance, and reliability through automated testing, monitoring, and proactive issue resolution
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, deliver data solutions, and optimize processes

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Statistics/Computer Science/ Engineering/ Mathematics (or combination of)

• 8+ years relevant experience
• Excellent understanding of relational databases, SSIS/SSAS/SSRS and the features available within SQL Server, proficiency using SQL Server in a highly transactional environment
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of TSQL, query plans and the RDBMS Engine which enables you to identify and resolve complex performance and concurrency issues
• Can model data given requirements and is able to give recommendations on how systems can be designed to allow for future development
• Strong understanding of DevOps principles and experience with relevant tools e.g. Azure DevOps for CI/CD, automation, GIT and infrastructure management
• Considers non-functional requirements when developing or reviewing code (Security, Archiving, etc.)
• Knowledge of other programming languages eg Python, Powershell or C#
• Experience with cloud technologies, particularly Azure, services such as Databricks, Event Hubs.
• Experience with or knowledge of Docker or something similar
• Experience with or knowledge of K8 (Kubernetes)
• Exposure working with financial data sets
