SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for a solid DBA with at least 5 years good commercial experience. This role will suit a qualified DBA who is looking for a REMOTE-BASED half day role (4 hours per day) position, though the demand is growing and the hours may increase at mutual consent.

AI skills will be highly advantageous as will AWS and Azure skills.

They require a proactive person who can work on their own and has a high work ethic. Passionate about working with proper data standards and technology standards.

Creating SOP's and timesheets are going to be a critical part of the work as well. The role will be structured as a long term contract and may well go permanent based on the increasing demand.

POSITION INFO:

Requirements:

- 5 to 8 years experience
- SQL Data Base Administration experience on multiple servers and environments
- Experience with High availability server solutions
- Replication experience
- Upgrading of SQL servers experience
- General security, RBAC and Row Level Security required
- Backup and management of files and database storage space and file sizes is critical
- Ability to monitor and identify problem areas
- Managing governance and documenting SQL
- Administering both cloud and on prem SQL
- ADVANTAGEOUS: AI Skills with RAG
- ADVANTAGEOUS: Certification in SQL Database Administration
- ADVANTAGEOUS: DevOps SQL development and management
- HOURS: 20 hours a week (more to follow based on customer interest)
- Rate Per Hour negotiable

Remote-based and must have own hardware. A weekly meeting in Durban will happen (or virtually if based outside the Greater Durban area).

Strong SOP and Documentation skills and ability to work with DevOps or GitHub advantageous. Must be able to work independently and proactively.
