  The Role:

  Our client, a holding company for a group of companies which produces and supplies fertilizer to the agricultural industry, is looking for a Senior Server Engineer who is ready to join an exciting challenge.

  Essential function:

  • Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems. 
  • Integrate servers, including e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated software into enterprise systems.
  • Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, Core Technologies, and other applications.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems. 
  • Perform routine system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.
  • Create and maintain system documentation for domain technologies, including installation, configuration, and appropriate troubleshooting steps.
  • Improve existing processes through solutions to recurring problems and enhancements to existing solutions or documentation.
  • Provide advanced problem solving for Omnia IT Helpdesk.
  • Provide training as required.
  • Final escalation point for IT Support.
  • Work with Microsoft Premier Support as and when required.
  • This is not a Managerial position but hands-on, although oversight is required from time to time.

  Reporting Continuous Improvement

  • Propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to business and IT teams
  • Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define customersâ?? requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve customer systems issues
  • Perform Capacity reporting on systems
  • Identify opportunities to innovate, extend and enhance service delivery everywhere possible

  • Manage customer satisfaction through effectively communicating and managing customer expectations

  Evaluate Improve

  • Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the companyâ??s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
  • Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems
  Skills and Experience:

  Essential Qualification:

  • Microsoft certifications (Windows Server 2016/19, Office365, Azure)
  • BCom /BTech Degree in Information Technology beneficial

  Experience required:

  • Minimum 10 yearsâ?? experience in a Microsoft server environment looking after day to day administration and operations. Strong knowledge in design, setup, configuration, and support. · Knowledge of and experience in the following is required:
  • Active Directory
  • DNS · DHCP
  • Networking incl. TCP/IP 
  • Hyper-V â?? important requirement
  • Failover Clustering and High Availability
  • SCOM, SCCM, SCVMM (advantageous)
  • Veeam Backup Replication
  • Office 365 backup
  • Group Policy Management
  • PowerShell (advantageous)
  • FortiNet Security Fabric (advantageous)
  • IIS
  • Mimecast Administration 
  • SQL Server â?? Install and Maintain
  • SharePoint Online 
  • Dynamics AX infrastructure
