Job Description

A well loved investment company is looking for a dynamic Site Reliability Engineer responsible for maintaining and evolving our operating systems, databases and software applications'' reliability, scalability, resilience, security, performance.

Will be responsible for availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work closely with development teams to achieve a high level of availability, reliability, and performance of their service
• Building software to help operations and support teams
• Apply Automation and software to any tasks or parts of the system that would benefit from it or are performed manually
• Monitor application and database performance, take steps to improve overall application performance and stability and follow through with implementation
• Able to troubleshoot complicated issues handling OS, Networking, Database and manage live production incidents, debug/troubleshoot application, and infrastructure issues, follow and implement SRE best practices
• Document your system knowledge as you acquire it over time, ensure critical system information is readily available to those who need it
• Keep up to date with security and proactively identify, diagnose, and solve complex security issues
• Conduct system analysis, configuration management and develops improvements for system software performance, availability, and reliability
• Enrolling users and maintaining system security

Ideal Experience

• Minimum 6 years of experience working in software engineering with a strong understanding of operations
• Hands-on Knowledge of the Microsoft Stack of Technologies
• Minimum 5 years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server
• You have 5+ years of experience in writing automation scripts, building application dashboards for proactive monitoring using PowerShell or similar technologies, ability to debug and optimise code and automate routine tasks
• Willingness to continuously learn new technologies and methodologies
• Good team-oriented interpersonal skills
• You can demonstrate extended expertise in infrastructure components: storage, system, and networking
• You have experience in monitoring and analysing infrastructure performance using standard performance monitoring tools
• Experience in Automation: centralised log collection, monitoring, vulnerabilities patching and audits

Ideal Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Information Systems or Computer Science
• MS Certified DevOps Engineer Expert
• Site Reliability Engineering Foundational certification
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive IT experience is required
• Extensive experience with PowerShell and advanced scripting languages
• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Azure and O365
• Hands-on understanding of network security and compliance is preferred (encryption, security audit)
• Automation experience with at least one configuration/deployment management
• Exceptional documentation skills and attention to detail (design documentation, processes/procedures, environment diagrams, etc.)
• Experience with web-delivered technologies (IIS, SharePoint, Java-based web servers)
• Good Knowledge & minimum hands-on experience with public cloud providers
• Knowledge of sound business practices and a proven track record of anticipating and exceeding customer expectations
• Experience with VMware is a plus

• Ability to work under pressure, troubleshoot, and to be able to multi-task multiple projects.
