Senior Slitter Operator - eThekwini Durban Kwazulu Natal Salary: Market Related, Benefits + Overtime Purpose of Position: Complement Recruitment are recruiting for a Senior Slitter Operator for the production and manufacturing sector. Applicants ideally from FMCG, plastics, steel, automotive or similar industries, based in eThekwini, Durban Kwazulu Natal. This is a permanent position reporting to the production plant section in charge. Salary includes benefits, medical aid and provident fund contributions, funeral, disability cover, 13 th cheque and overtime as and when required. Apply Directly for this Job by clicking here - Minimum Requirements : Minimum 5 years of experience operating cast line machinery in a plastic extrusion operation, converting Grade 12 \/ Matric - Compulsory Clear Criminal Record Certificate or Diploma Plastic Manufacturing \/ Extrusion Operations \/ N6 Electrical \/ Chemical \/ Mechanical Engineering advantageous Located in the eThekwini area - Hammersdale, Pinetown, Pietermaritzburg, Cato Ridge, Hillcrest Ability to accurately read a tape measure Ability to be self-directed and multitask Ability to follow directions Timeliness Ability to obtain forklift and overhead crane license and operate a forklift and overhead crane Must be prepared to work shifts. Work overtime on request Must have own reliable transport to and from Cato Ridge Good Timekeeping and attendance are essential. Key Competencies: ü Identify HIRA and inform SIC (Section-In-Charge) to revise HIRA list ü To report machine fault immediately to SIC. ü Continuous monitoring of machine parameters and quality of product. ü To follow and execute the various instructions given by the superiors based on time to time requirement related to operations ü Perform to quality, waste, and production standards and goals ü Meet the highest of quality standards ü Report production accurately and timely including waste, WIP, time codes, raw materials, etc. ü Ensure your own safety while operating the machine and that of those assisting with operations ü Maintain basic condition of machinery and report deviations to SIC to include in abnormality list. ü Ability to be self-managed and multi-task ü Ability to communicate well with others ü Ability to follow instructions ü Accuracy and attention to detail Duties: Set-up execute relevant safety, quality, site rules, training, as per SOP. Conducts proper shift handovers at each shift change Feed raw material into Bins or Silo as per running plan. Feed raw material into correct dosings as per film plan Pull scrap from process area into grinder area. Ensure pre-use safety inspection before Operating Feeding machine, Winder, Crane, Grinder, Erema Complete all relevant logbook and checklist as per schedule on shift basis Perform film threading in Casting, MDO, TDO and PRS machine. Cut trim rolls and store in safe manner. Start-up and set-up machine under supervisor instruction. Handle film break safely to avoid injuries and downtime. Clean Casting Unit roll, MDO roll, TDO duct, Cooling Zone and PRS roll immediate after line stoppage. Remove jumbo roll in Winder unloader Use turn table for quality sampling when required. Perform jumbo entry on Oracle system and SCIP. Pinning, mapping and spindle adjustment during micron change over. Clean main extruder dosing tower, suction filter as per schedule. Conduct proper stock count of jumbo stock and raw material at feeding. Initiate at least one Kaizen per month Maintain 5S of machine and work area Ensure adherence to TIE schedule Take lawful instruction from Supervisor Clean Main LLF Filter and Its parts and COFIT Filter. Operate Feeding machine, Crane, Grinder, Erema under supervision\/instruction Ensure troubleshooting of machine\/quality. Assist Section in Charge to assemble and disassemble LLF filter. Backflush co-extruder 1 and 4 when required.
