Senior Software Engineer (Java)

SUMMARY:
Our client, a leading software solutions firm is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience that will be based in the Johannesburg area. The successful candidate will be responsible to work with Java programming language to develop web applications and computer systems.

POSITION INFO:

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree or Diploma in Information Technology / Computer Science / Actuarial.
• Essential: Java Certification
• Beneficial:Familiarity with Financial systems and accounting concepts.
• 5-10 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience in the following technologies:
• Java JEE
• IBM MQ Series
• Glassfish / Payara
• Web Logic
• Primefaces
• Microsoft SQL Server
• SOAP/RESTful web services
• EJB
• IntelliJ
• Bitbucket
• Jira

Job Responsibilities:

• Work in a team to develop a prototype plan for an enterprise systems.
• Monitor for successful integration, maintaining the system throughout its lifecycle.
• Translate functional specifications into workable project deliverables.
• Staging these specifications to team capability and capacity.
• Responsible for code review and quality control.
• Provide technical leadership and team support.
• Impart knowledge to others.
• Accountable and responsible for project delivery.
• Ensuring continuous professional self-development and the mentoring of Software engineers.
• Continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural reviews.
• Assist with the production of technical specifications and designs.
• Work in accordance to the prevailing delivery methodology as defined by the business.
• Develop integration strategies to update existing systems that will transition into the new system build down the road. 
•  Develop modules of the initial enterprise system plan.
• Work with the development team by coding advanced portions of the modules.
• Delegation routine coding to other Java Developers.
• Conduct the testing of completed code modules.
• Fix code as needed to ensure a smooth system deployment with the intended functionality.
• Plan and execute all deployment of system features.
