POSITION INFO:
To provide strong technical leadership with good communication skills and strategic thinking to coordinate and deliver outcomes for the priority focus on Grid and Energy modelling.

To strategically coordinate multiple workgroups with appointed senior business leads and public sector counterparts in preparation for reporting and approval.
Manage procurement and delivery from service providers on technical elements and scopes of work.
Â
Engage and influence senior counterparts across public and private sectors to enable collaborative engagement and decisions on Grid and Energy Modelling
Supporting the migration of NECOM technical workstream management towards sustainable engagement platforms with Department, NTCSA and others
Â
- Ensure compliance with all governance protocols agreed for partnership working.
- Support the implementation of administrative procedures, reporting structures and operational controls.
- Develop strategic frameworks for integration of stakeholders and related objectives to provide short-to-long-term outlook on Grid expansion and development in line with national planning imperatives.
- Run models and interpretation of issues impacting Grid capacity
- Provide leadership interface to other role players and broader considerations such as local content development.
- Promote informed positions on behalf of the Council and its members.
- Act as the technical authority on behalf of the Council
- Manage junior staff to deliver quality administration
- Build strong and trusted relationships with all stakeholders
- Directly engage and support the Energy Council CEO

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field, with MBA, Master’s degree or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge and Experience Requirements:
- Proven leader with collaborative style and ability to build strong relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
- 10 years of experience working in energy sector – specific Grid experience would be an advantage, regional knowledge will also be an advantage.
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of the energy sector of South Africa and its developmental agenda.
- Direct experience and knowledge of SA network and energy transition related impacts and considerations in relation to Grid development and impact
- Experience and competent modeller in PLEXOS.
- Demonstrate strong networks and relations in public sector, including NTCSA, IPPO, DEE. International networks in energy planning would be an advantage.
