Senior Strategy Consultant - Financial Services (EE) Cape Town/Jhb

SUMMARY:
Seeking a Senior Strategy consulting Manager with a Financial Degree ( an MBA will be beneficial) plus 10 to 15 years relevant industry experience or strategy consulting equivalent experience, for an EE position with a large corporate in Cape Town or Johannesburg.

POSITION INFO:

The Senior Manager/Consultant: Group Strategy will play a critical role in determining the long-term strategic direction and ambition for the Group on an ongoing basis, ensuring the successful implementation of key strategic initiatives across the portfolio of clusters as well as proactively identifying value-enhancing new strategic initiatives, in particular those spanning across multiple clusters.

• You’ll be part of senior leadership of the strategy function, overseeing a small team of Managers and Associate Managers from diverse backgrounds and disciplines and work in a team-oriented, relationship-driven environment.
• Partner with senior Group executives, taking on the role of trusted advisor, engaging on the Group’s most critical issues to ensure the Groups strategic ambition is achieved.

Responsibilities

• Support the Group CEO in the development of long-term Group strategic plans and objectives.
• Support cluster executives in developing and implementing cluster strategic initiatives to execute on the Group strategic vision.
• Facilitate discussions with Group executives to prioritize strategic initiatives for implementation, coordinate cross-cluster initiatives and resolve conflicts in cluster priorities.
• Working across a portfolio of clusters, ensure successful development and implementation of cluster strategic initiatives by:
  • Overseeing the development of robust initiative roadmaps (incl. KPIs, risks, milestones and interdependencies) for certain high-importance strategic initiatives.
  • Acting as a sounding-board for cluster executives and initiative owners for key decisions in road mapping and implementation.
  • Share experience and best practises with cluster executives and initiative owners.
  • Regularly monitor performance measures and milestones put in place to determine the effectiveness of certain implemented initiatives.
  • Facilitate monthly discussions with initiative owners to resolve roadblocks, monitor risks; and identify and manage interdependencies.
  • Escalate roadblocks to the attention of the Executive Committee when necessary.
  • Ensure all key strategic initiatives consistently reflect the Group’s goals and interests.
• Facilitate quarterly business reviews between Group and cluster executives to evaluate overall performance against strategic targets and make adjustments as necessary.
• Support the Group CEO in the annual strategic review to evaluate overall performance against strategic targets and make adjustments as necessary.
• Provide mentorship and support to Managers and Associate Managers ensuring continuous individual development.
• Other duties may be assigned.

 Requirements

Qualifications

• University Degree
• An MBA will be advantageous.
• CA (SA), actuarial or engineering background may help with  the analytical part of the role.

Experience

• 10 to 15 years relevant industry experience or strategy consulting equivalent experience.
• Previous Strategy experience and demonstrated Leadership in growing personal relationships and knowledge development.
