Senior Tax Specialist

SUMMARY:
The purpose of the role is ensuring the company’s group tax compliance , with a particular focus on direct taxes and international tax, deliver tax reporting requirements, adding value to the organisation through effective tax risk management, in keeping with the Group’s Tax Strategy.

Role Context

The Senior Tax Specialist plays a pivotal role in managing and executing various tax-related functions, including tax projects, tax accounting and reporting, tax compliance, tax audits, and risk mitigation. Your expertise will contribute to our financial success and compliance within the ever-evolving regulatory landscape.

• Post Graduate Honours Degree or Postgraduate Diploma
• Accounting Tax
• Chartered Accountant preferred
• License, Certificate, Registration required (relevant certifications & professional memberships)
• Registered tax practitioner/ professional tax certification – preferred
• VAT Certification
• International tax & transfer pricing certificates, post graduate qualifications - advantageous

• Experience in a tax role: min 5 years
• Corporate Income Tax; min 5 years
• VAT & indirect taxes experience: min 3 years
• International tax & transfer pricing: min 3 years
• Experience in supervising/ leading a team: 3 years
• Experience in a multinational organisation, accounting firm, or financial, fintech institution (preferably Africa): min 5 years
• Experience in managing tax projects, tax audits, and providing tax advice: min 5 years

• Corporate Tax & VAT legislation, including VAT appointment: Advanced
• Knowledge of global tax regulations with focus on Africa, accounting standards (IFRS), and compliance requirements: Advanced
• Knowledge of all types of tax returns: Advanced
• Proficiency in tax software, financial systems, and Microsoft Office Suite: Advanced
• Knowledge of international tax and complex transfer pricing: Advanced
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyse complex tax issues and provide practical solutions: Advanced
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders: Advanced
• Strong leadership & mentoring capabilities to support staff: Advanced
